Liverpool star Mane wins PFA Fans´ Player of the Year

Liverpool forward Sadio Mane has won the Premier League PFA Fans Player of the Year award for 2019-20.

The Senegal star enjoyed a fine campaign, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists as the Reds ended a 30-year wait for a top-flight title in dominant fashion.

Mane won the award, voted for via a poll from fans across England, ahead of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold, gaining 41 per cent of the vote.

Virgil van Dijk, Raheem Sterling and Jamie Vardy were also nominated for the prestigious individual award.

Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour attends Champions League final

Manchester City’s owner, Sheikh Mansour, attended his team’s Champions League final victory against Internazionale on Saturday evening. The sheikh was present in Istanbul as City won Europe’s top club prize for the first time.

It was only the second competitive game he has attended since his investment vehicle, the Abu Dhabi United Group, purchased City in 2008. He missed the 2021 final that City lost to Chelsea in Porto, but made arrangements to be in Turkey. Khaldoon al-Mubarak, City’s chairman, was also at the showpiece match at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
